UNI 11020 AND TRACEABILITY

In July 2007 the UHT goat’s milk processing site of Villagrande Strisaili, Sardinia, was awarded a valuable certification by DNV (Det Norske Veritas, www.dnv.it):

CERTIFICATION OF TRACEABILITY

pursuant to the Italian regulation UNI 11020 on the principles and requirements for the implementation of traceability systems applicable to all materials used by the company, concerning the characteristic of all finished products.

According to the EU Regulation 178/2002, from January the traceability is compulsory. Therefore the implementation of the UNI 11020 certification strengthen the compliance with such regulation within the production site of the Amalattea group, where the traceability of the finished product is guaranteed and documented by means of records and traceability of all products that have entered the site and that are used in the production of UHT goat’s milk. The entire traceability process is managed and supported by an AS400 system: this ensures the regular check on the material flow of each lot both entering and exiting the site and improved effectiveness in ensuring safety in the food chain, allowing the continuous monitoring of the product during each stage of the milk processing.
