The clinical and socio-economic impact of intolerance to cow's milk is not yet clear and is rather neglected by authorities in charge of public health as well as by the media. However, what must be pointed out is that – with special reference to doctors and medical staff – the seriousness of this disease must not be overlooked. Complications due to this disease must be properly treated and dietary choices that are suggested must be in line with the patients' characteristics.
That's why we would like to launch an information and awareness-raising campaign focused on intolerance and allergy to cow's milk, which will be implemented thanks to the support of anyone wishing to contribute to our initiative.
We ask doctors, research institutes, universities, authorities in charge of controlling and protecting food quality, professional and consumers' associations to disseminate information about the nutritional properties of goat milk and its use in the diet of children, adults and the elderly.
Our goal is to publish a leaflet entitled “Discovering goat milk: its characteristics and use in dietary therapies” , of a popular nature, to present clinical studies, researches and personal experiences stating that goat milk's and its by-products' consumption contributed to improve the body's general well-being or to treat specific diseases.
Information or ideas explained in the leaflet must not – in any way – be regarded as a replacement for either medical prescription or medical consultation, since both are advisable and essential in the presence of a disease.
