Company traceability: from UNI 11020:2002 (Italian standard) to UNI EN ISO 22005:2007 (International standard)
In June 2008 Amalattea’s certification was upgraded by Det Norske Veritas, from UNI 11020 (no longer in force since 01/06/2008) to the new ISO 22005:2007 standard.
The standards set out in ISO 22005:2007 “Traceability in feed and food chain – General principles and basic requirements for system design and implementation” replace those of UNI 10939:2001 “Traceability in food and farming production” and UNI 11020:2002 “Traceability in food and farming production”. ISO 22005:2007 applies to the entire agri-food sector, including the production of feedstuffs, and it is the document of reference for traceability certification in the agri-food sector. ISO 22005 is an international standard adopted to harmonize information on voluntary traceability across the world. The implementation of traceability systems in food and farming companies is a fundamental tool not only to meet the legal requirements in force, but also to fulfill customers’ expectations, particularly in case the product does not comply with hygienic and sanitary standards.
